As a committed DC beer drinker, you’ve probably followed ChurchKey since the day they opened (or perhaps even before that). On Wednesday, August 1, join them as they take the next step and pour five – count ’em, five – beers from their forthcoming brewery, Bluejacket (and in four of those instances, a collaborating brewery of sterling pedigree). Read the full press release below:
Beer Director Greg Engert and Head Brewer Megan Parisi spent the summer not letting silly little things like not having a brewery stop them from crafting some amazing beers. Instead, they traveled around the country to collaborate with some of the best breweries out there and now, for the very first time, five Bluejacket beers will be featured together on the ChurchKey tap lines.
Three new brews that have yet to see daylight will join the wildly popular Snack Attack, the Cigar City & Funky Buddha collaboration and Black Berliner Techno Weiss, a collaboration with Devils Backbone that made their debut during SAVOR week.
The aptly named Washington O.C., a collaboration with California’s The Bruery, is a Belgian Quad style ale made with plums. Also from California, and not too far down the I-5 at Pizza Port Ocean Beach, Bluejacket paired up to create a sweet and slightly smoky Scotch Ale with a touch of smoked malt and molasses they’ve deemed Burns’ Night.
ChurchKey will also be pouring Bluejacket’s first signature beer, the Sidewalk Saison, timed perfectly to remedy the scorching dog days of summer. Brewed at Iron Hill Brewery in West Chester PA, the Sidewalk Saison is a traditional Belgian Saison with black pepper, coriander, lemon and orange peels, as well as some local violet wood sorrel foraged by Chef Kyle Bailey.
All Bluejacket beers will poured beginning at 6 PM and will be available in 4 oz tasters and full-glass pours. There is no admission charge for the event.
