Barrel and Flow is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this weekend. It’s the largest festival of Black-owned beer brands in the world, and DMV locals are showing up and showing out.

First up, a 6.1% ABV biere de garde brewed at Pittsburgh’s New France Brewing Company with Maryland’s Liquid Intrusion Brewing Company and Delaware’s Melanated Mash Makers. Cans of Garde the Culture are available via New France, and we think LIBCo will have a few on hand for sampling purposes at tastings and festivals. New France is no stranger to Maryland collaborations, having brewed a beer with Black Viking for last year’s festival.

Next up, Soul Mega and Pittsburgh’s Cinderlands Beer Co brewed a pilsner, Echo Bloom, but it’s got a few twists. Their Dry-Hopped Honey Pilsner is made “like a classic Czech pilsner in the brewhouse, dosed with orange blossom honey, then dry-hopped like a west coast pale ale with Simcoe, Superdelic, and Motueka.” It’s 5.4% ABV and Cinderland has cans. Last year a sixtel keg of Soul Mega’s Barrel and Flow collab made it to Snallygaster. Fingers crossed that happens again. Cans are available via Cinderlands.
Update: cans will be available in DC soon!
