The last time Maryland Meadworks and Franklin’s collaborated, the result was a cross between a braggot and a tripel. It was pretty pretty good! This year, they’re getting dank. Very dank. Tonight the two Hyattsville fermentories release Sun God, a 13% triple IPA-braggot hybrid, brewed with Egyptian honey. How much honey, you ask? Four hundred and twenty pounds of clover honey harvested from the banks of the Nile River, courtesy of honey company Hunni. The harvesters will be in attendance tonight to talk shop, as will Franklin’s brewer Jeff Hancock.

As this is a beer-focused site, you’re probably more interested in the IPA aspects of this beverage. It was triple dry hopped with Citra, Krush, and Riwaka, and finished with Citra terpenes. Like we said, dank. The beer/braggot/beverage will be on tap at both Franklin’s and Maryland Meadworks, with bottles available at Franklin’s. No recommended ice cream pairings yet, but watch this space.

A few blocks up Route 1, Streetcar 82 has a collaboration on tap and in cans with a familiar face. Rolling Waves is also a deaf-owned brewery, and their brewer is none other than Richard Hartogs, formerly of Rocket Frog. He’s in Miami, managing the front of the house for Rolling Waves Brewery and Distillery. The beer is Crabby Hour, a blonde ale with crab seasonings. The release party already happened, but the beer is still available. We’ll be checking it out now that softshells are in season, but we think it’ll also pair well with cookouts, Eat Well burgers, and cole slaw.
