It’s been a busy winter for Right Proper. The brewery vacated their original brewpub Shaw location earlier this month, and today they announced the site of the replacement restaurant, the space that formerly housed Brookland Pint at 716 Monroe Street NE. “We’ll be moving the operations to a turnkey restaurant space in DC, soon to be announced,” Right Proper posted on February 19. That spot is Brookland Pint.

The move consolidates Right Proper operations in Northeast DC, along the Metropolitan Branch, and Beer, Trail. Right Proper the restaurant will probably open before the Shaw replacement brewpub comes online at 1625 Eckington Place NE. The team is aiming for a summer 2026 debut for the much-delayed brewpub near Bouldering Project and Union Kitchen.

Co-owner Thor Cheston tells us the Brookland tasting room at 920 Girard Street NE, which currently hosts events and shares a space with Zeke’s Coffee until noon, “is not going anywhere,” so double your fun with two Right Propers in Brookland. In the meantime, please welcome back what was Brookland Pint. That restaurant closed in May 2025, features 25 direct draw taps, and a transparent climate-controlled space by the bar that would work well for both cheese and bottled beer. We’ll have more information on the menus as Right Proper gets closer to opening.
