Earlier this year, we broke the news that New Belgium was indeed expanding to our fair city. Since then, it’s been a waiting game for us all as New Belgium planned its distribution strategy.
Well, my friends, the wait is almost over. We learned today that the official launch will be on August 22,2011. That’s right – less than three weeks away!
Premium Distributors of DC and New Belgium will enter the market with the following products – all of which will be available only in 22 oz bomber bottles at craft beer venues in DC, Maryland, and Virgina.
Fat Tire
Hoptober (Fall seasonal golden ale)
Trippel
Ranger IPA
Kick (New product from Lips of Faith series)
Super Cru (20th Anniversary Lips of Faith beer)
22 oz bombers is the only size available now, with draft options becoming available in a few months.
But wait, there’s more!
Prior to the official launch, New Belgium will be offered on the DC Beer Week Craft Beer Cruise on August 14th. No less than three of the launch-day beers will be available to this year’s cruise participants, so expect these tickets to go fast. Click here to buy now.
Join us on the Craft Beer Cruise to get a taste of some of the delicious New Belgium beers that you can soon stock in your fridge.

Will we be getting six packs and cases of 12-ounce bottles at some point?
At some point, yes, but our understanding is they’ll launch with bombers in DC and then down the road cases, 6s and 12s.
Yes, 6-packs, 12-packs, and cases are expected to follow in late-September.
There was a list out at Westover market that also included Clutch, their upcoming sour stout. I’m really really hoping to get my hands on that beast.
FWIW, Kick is a Sour pumpkin ale with raspberries!
The fact that there is no 1554 on this list is most disappointing.
Any word on the Lips of Faith beers?
D’Oh. Never mind.
NB finally comes to this rotten area, and they retire 2Below at the same time. i am SO dissapointed!
