Alright, we survived the official opening weekend, but we’ve got more for ya!
Saturday, 9/26
Churchkey, 12-5pm. Neighborhood Restaurant Group has a few on Saturday, here’s the DC one, with a stein holding competition at 2pm, German food specials, and of course German beer. You might see a gravity keg or two from Bluejacket show up; we’re partial to Reflections, the dry-hopped festbier. Pay as you go.
Aslin Yachtoberfest, 2-7pm. What if a fest, but also Christopher Cross? Aslin has you covered in both DC (14th St) and VA (Alexandria and Herndon). Beer and food specials, games, contests and… yacht rock and other assorted “maritime nonsense,” in their words. Pay as you go, but RSVP if you’d like.
HiFi/Evening Star, 12-5pm. There’s a bit more room in Del Ray than in DC, so there’s a band in addition to German food and seasonal beer. A bit more family friendly, too. Pay as you go.
Rocktobierfest, 11am-5pm. The city of Rockville, Maryland is throwing a party with multiple breweries pouring, music, games, food, and more. Family friendly, too.
Sapwood Cellars, 12-8pm. From the brewery: “We’ll be serving $6.50 .5L mugs of lager on the patio (and inside) including Sky Meadow (Festbier), Pilsner Kopirovat, Prophecy of the Clock (Dark Lager), Könventional (Kölsch), and Early Frost (Altbier). Albura will be serving up pretzels and German-inspired tacos (schnitzel, currywurst, and sauerbraten). We’ll also have Maryland Polka Band playing 4- 6 PM! Stein Hoisting contest at 5 PM! Come celebrate fall with us!” Pay as you go.
Ornery Herndon, 12-9pm. They’ve got 125 steins, reserve yours! German food, German music, and the beer is a collab between them and their original brewer, Chris Jaques, who’s now at Chilly Hollow Brewing in Berryville, VA. He’s a good brewer, and a better person. Dress up and you could win cash money, too. The aforementioned Aslin Herndon, Honor Brewing (Fairfax), and Trouvaille Brewing (Haymarket) are also out that way. Keeping it Virginia….
G34.3 Brewing, 12-9pm. Beer, music, pretzels, doner kebab, and more beer! Free, but you can also reserve a meal and you might want to. Water’s End Brewing (Woodbridge) and Full Distance Brewing (Stafford) are also doing events should you want to make a day of it and hit multiple parties. All are pay as you go.
Sunday, 9/27
Ornery Bristow, 12-9pm. Music from 1-4pm, and we assume much of the same from the day before in Herndon.
They’ll be more the first weekend in October as well, but we’ll probably turn our attention to Snallygaster, so we leave you with this excellent Google doc of local events from the seldom-used r/dcbeer sub-reddit. Prost!
