It’s a Virginia news roundup!
The hot new trend in Virginia is a welcome one: breweries not closing!

Dynasty’s last day was supposed to be August 30th. They threw a farewell party and everything. Well, they’re staying open until the end of November, and if you see anything you like around the taproom you can make them an offer. After November, Dynasty will look for a contract brewing partner to supply their Leesburg taproom. Co-owner and head brewer Favio Garcia tells us he’s still brewing in Ashburn for the time being, including fresh batches of Fastbender IPA, Yorkshire Bitter, and Mount Vernon Porter. This includes cask ale; they’re about 2-3 weeks away from putting the bitter on a beer engine. Excellent news there!

One potential brewing partner down the road? Old Ox. The brewery, which closed last spring, is looking at a location near Dulles on Woodland Road and is seeking investors. Business plans and such are available, and we’ll keep you updated on what would be a 2026 reopening at the earliest.

Lastly, Alexandria’s Lost Boy Cider might be for sale. The cidery opened in 2019. We reached out to owner Tristan Wright about a potential sale last April, who clarified that he was seeking investment partners in the business. Alexandria Now reports that the asking price is $1.5 million, noting “The Alexandria craft cidery generated $1.08 million in annual revenue with $660,000 in cash flow.” The sale includes “production equipment valued at $300,000, inventory worth $183,000, and a lease through March 2031 at $6,700 per month.” An update to that article adds that the business listings for Lost Boy have been removed from three platforms, so perhaps there’s more going on here.
Cider is made like wine, but sold like beer, and it has a spotty track record inside the beltway. Supreme Core and Capitol Cider House both abruptly closed over the past few years, leaving Anxo and Lost Boy as the only cideries in the DMV, though a few breweries make cider on the side, like Aslin, Denizens, and Sapwood. Here’s hoping Lost Boy finds a buyer and/or investors, but if not, maybe the cidery will be resurrected later on.
