The Metropolitan Beer Trail is back for 2024, kicking off April 27–that’s this weekend! To celebrate, Red Bear is releasing a kellerbier and metrobar will have beers from all #DrinkMBT breweries–Red Bear, Crooked Run, Lost Generation, City-State, and Right Proper–available.
“Each of the 11 locations on the Trail is walkable or bikeable from the Metropolitan Branch Trail, which stretches from Union Station northward through the neighborhoods of NoMa, Eckington, and Brookland,” says the NoMA Business Improvement District, and as was the case in past years, checking in can get you some swag.
The other breweries along the MBT are planning some special releases later in the year, so stay tuned. “We decided to brew a kellerbier to showcase our newfound love for lagers,” Red Bear’s Lead Brewer, Devin Antoncich, tells us. “We’re trying out a very pale German malt to give it a nice light appearance and being that it’s a young lager, it will retain a slight haze. We brewed it with Hallertau Mittelfrueh and our house lager yeast so expect traditional German lager flavors with a crisp easy drinking body.”
New this year is Nice & Easy, a bar tucked into Congress Street behind REI and Red Bear. Gone is The Eleanor, which closed.
