Two pieces of news from DC Brau for you this week.

We’ll start with a new addition to the Brau flagship family. The Imperial is a double IPA that tries to strike a balance between New England hazies and more traditional, ahem, shelf-stable offerings. It’s 8% alcohol by volume, and is “brewed with copious amounts of malted oats and Mid-Atlantic wheat creating a soft, pillowy mouthfeel.” The hop bill includes “El Dorado, Mosaic Incognito, and Sabro Cryo,” per a press release.

“Imperial IPAs have been a favorite style of ours throughout the years — from On the Wings of Armageddon to Alpha Domina Mellis to Space Reaper, but they’ve always been seasonal offerings,” says Co-Founder and CEO Brandon Skall. “We’re excited to finally have a unique DIPA to stand alongside our flagships The Corruption, The Public, Joint Resolution, and Brau Pils all year long.”

“We’ve worked hard in the DC Brau innovation lab to create an Imperial IPA that plays to the discerning tastes and palates of the 21st century IPA and hop enthusiasts who want more aroma-forward offerings.” says Co-Founder and Brewmaster Jeff Hancock.

Look for it in the DC Brau shop this week, in 6-packs of 12 ounce cans. Want tasting notes: “complex bursts of tropical, stone fruit, tangerine/lime, sweet berry, and vanilla cream flavors coupled with a subtle toasted coconut backbone and vibrant tropical fruit finish,” the Brau team writes.

The second bit of Brau news is a monthly club, effective February 1, 2021. The Can Committee loyalty program allows you to switch between beer and seltzer on a monthly basis. For $40 per month you pick your beverage of choice and get

First up for the February beers, the barrel-aged collaborations with Jameson have returned: Your Pet Cow Imperial Milk Stout and Stand and Deliver, which is somewhere between a triple IPA and a barleywine (think Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA). Can Committee members get first crack at these beers, and look for more one-off monthly releases from Brau as they roll out the program.
