Via a kickass press release from former DCBeer editor and all-around nice guy, Chris Van Orden:
On March 31, Port City Brewing Company will host Malt Madness, a day of spirited competition and malt-forward beers. Whether opting for tournament-style match-play or friendly ‘pickup’ games, players can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, as well as some of Port City’s award-winning ales and lagers.
“We've noticed our patrons like activities with their refreshments,” says Tasting Room manager Tim Quintyn. “Malt Madness brings delicious beers and competitive spirit together for a fun and festive day."
Players with their sights set on the Malt Madness championship can register a team of up to 6 for one of two separate tournaments: Cornhole and Giant Yard Pong. With Coaches Sean and Andrew officiating, teams will square off in hopes of advancing through the brackets to the finals.
Those more interested in less competitive play can enjoy giant Jenga, extra cornhole setups, ladderball, arcade games and darts. The Lighthouse Lounge will be a game-free zone, serving malty beers and playing metal for people who want to ride the bench.
To slake the competitors’ thirst, Port City has assembled a deep roster of malty limited releases, including Tartan Ale, COLOSSAL 5, COLOSSAL 7, Metro Red, Doppelbock, and dueling cask conditioned versions of Tartan Ale and Metro Red.
