Port City Brewing Company, the DC metro area's leading producer of GABF medals and also witbier, is adding a new offering into heavy rotation. Integral IPA, a "dry, straw-colored beer is a showcase for bright, tropical aromatics coaxed from characterful American hops, including Azacca, Mosaic, Pekko, and Simcoe," according to a press release. It will launch next Friday, July 21 in both draft and bottles.

“IPAs are the most popular style of craft beer in America,” says Port City founder Bill Butcher, “so it’s natural that the boundaries of the category continue to grow and evolve. While Monumental IPA is a combination of English and American heritage, Integral is a modern American IPA through and through.”

The Integral IPA Release Party will take place at the brewery from 3-10pm next Friday.

The press release describes Intgegral as "a dry, highly aromatic new school American IPA. Pouring with a golden luster, the beer bursts with tropical aromas of overripe pineapple, melon, and guava. Integral IPA was brewed using a process known as hop-bursting, in which the majority of the hops are added at the end of the boil, resulting in more pronounced hop aromas. The beer was also dry-hopped using Port City’s patented Hopzooka®." It weighs in at 7% ABV and 60 IBUs.

The beer joins Monumental, an English-style IPA; Essential, an American pale ale; and Maniacal, a double IPA among Port City's hoppy offerings.
