Vienna's Caboose Brewing Company will open a second brewery in Merrifield's Mosaic District in 2017. The brewery will repurpose a 6,000 square-foot storage facility at the corner southwest corner of Lee Highway and Eskridge Road.
“Both my fellow owner Tim McLaughlin and I have been long-term Fairfax residents, and are excited about growing our business in in Northern Virginia,” Caboose co-owner Matt Greer said.
Pending approval from Fairfax County, the brewery may offer public tastings and a beer garden. Plans also including building pedestrian crosswalks to facilitate an easy connection to the rest of Mosaic. Construction is set to begin in the fall with an opening planned for early 2017.
“We are excited to work with Caboose to create a community gathering space that will benefit and complement the existing Mosaic neighborhood,” said Reed Kracke, Vice President of Development for EDENS.
Caboose celebrated its first anniversary party this past weekend. In addition to brewing, they also maintain an on-site restaurant that's focused on sustainable sourcing of ingredients from local farmers and producers.
