Recall that last November we brought you the news that Shaw brewpub Right Proper Brewing Company was going to open a production brewery in DC's Brookland neighborhood to increase capacity and have the space to experiment with beer styles, among other factors. We got a bit more information in December, when we interviewed head brewer and co-owner Nathan Zeender. With an additional brewing facility on the way, it makes sense to bring on another brewer, and this one is very familiar to Right Proper, having worked at Navy Yard's Bluejacket brewpub, just a few Green line Metro stops away. The Shaw Brewpub Welcomes Bobby Bump to the Brewing Team.
Bobby Bump will be joining the Right Proper brewing team. Bobby comes to Right Proper from Bluejacket Brewery in DC, where he has been brewing for the past two-and-a-half years. Bobby discovered his passion for making beer as many do in the industry, through home brewing. Bobby left the real estate development business in Seattle to gain professional brewing experience at Schooner Exact Brewing Company before moving east to take a brewer’s position at Allagash Brewing Company.
“My role at Bluejacket allowed me to work with a very creative brew team,” said Bobby Bump. “But I live in Shaw and often find myself hanging out at Right Proper. I am excited to take on a new position and work with Nathan and Chris.” Right Proper is honored to have Bobby join the team. His positive energy and immense talent make him a perfect fit for their team.
