Our Maryland neighbors are giving local homebrewers the chance to see a recipe brewed by the pros. From a press release:
Calling all homebrewers – the DuClaw Brewing Company’s H.E.R.O Competition is back and looking for its next taste champion. Homebrewers are invited to send in their original creation for a chance for their beers to be brewed, bottled and distributed by DuClaw.
In addition to bragging rights, the winner’s creation will be available at DuClaw restaurants, and sold throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia. All proceeds from the sale of the winning entry will be donated to a charity nominated by contest participants.
“The word hero has many meanings in this competition,” said DuClaw owner Dave Benfield. “The selected brew needs to be a H.E.R.O – honest, excellent, robust and most importantly, original; the winning homebrewer is a hero amongst fellow craft beer heads; and our DuClaw drinkers are heroes for giving back to a good cause by trying something new.”
The contest is open to all homebrewers and any type of ale or lager is accepted. Creativity is encouraged, though the staff suggests using ingredients that are easily sourced for large-scale production. The deadline for entry is Jan. 16, 2015; all entries will be judged by the DuClaw brewing staff. For full contest rules please visit http://bit.ly/1zqJTve.
