What you need to know: A relatively new addition to the D.C. market, Ithaca’s brings easy-drinking beer from the Finger Lakes region of New York. The brewery specializes in beers that aren’t particularly challenging, but offer relative consistency. Flower Power is a grapefruit and dry-hop bomb for the Heady disciples among you, while White Gold will tide you over until the brewery’s more advanced Excelsior! series starts hitting your local bottle shop’s shelves.

Beer #1: Flower Power (India Pale Ale / 7.5%)

In Their Own Words: “Enjoy the clover honey hue and tropical nose. Our India Pale Ale is simultaneously punchy and soothing with a big body finish that boasts pineapple and grapefruit. Flower Power is hopped and dry-hopped five different times throughout the brewing and fermentation process.”

Food Pairing: Cured Salmon with Lardo Butter and Powdered Lemon

Beer #2: White Gold (Rustic Pale Wheat Ale / 8%)

In Their Own Words: “A Belgo-American ale brewed with domestic barley and French wheat malts, the finest continental and US grown hops, and fermented with Belgian, English and Wild yeasts. Enjoy the glowing opaque appearance, fruity and herbal aromas, zesty mouthfeel and bone-dry finish.”
