SAVOR returns to DC May 9-10. The week before this big event promises plenty of great events in the DC area. Although we have day-by-day line-ups posted, it may also be helpful for the #DCBrews community to check out what some players that are going above and beyond will be offering. Here are the events for Dupont Circle's Scion Restaurant (2100 P Street NW) and its sister restaurant, Crios Modern Mexican (2102 P Street NW). For more of DCBeer's #SAVOR Week coverage, click here.

Beer & Cheese: An Evening with Funkwerks, Odell, & Right Proper

Join Scion as they celebrate one of their favorite pairings, cheese and beer. Odell and Funkwerks will feature 10 selections on draft, as well as host a private tasting and Q+A session. For this special event, out-of-market breweries Funkwerks and Odell have each sent five special drafts, rarely available in DC. Additionally, Right Proper has carefully paired each beer with a selection from their very own cheese counter. (Note: Right Proper will not be serving beer at this event.)

In addition to the main event, the owners of Funkwerks and Odell will host a private, guided tasting of their beers, accompanied by cheese pairings. Each brewery will feature a special beer, served exclusively at the private tasting.

Tickets are required for the private tasting. Tickets are $25 and include 4 oz samples of six different beers and accompanying cheese pairings. Space is extremely limited. To purchase tickets, please visit: BeerCheeseSAVOR.eventbrite.com

The rest of the beers will be available for individual purchase. Tickets are not required for the main portion of the event. Representatives from each brewery will be in attendance.

On the heels of Cinco de Mayo, DC Brau and Union have each agreed to prepare a specialty cask conditioned with Scorpion Mezcal (Reposado). Distilled in Mexico, mezcal is often described as a smokier version of tequila.
