Baseball is our great nation’s pastime, and beer – well, beer is more American than Abe Lincoln eating apple pie while driving a monster truck.  That’s why the new local craft beer offerings at Nationals Park this year should get your grand old flag billowing.  As Jacob Berg reported here in July, the ballpark really upped its game last year, thanks in large part to the efforts of Bill Butcher, founder of Port City Brewing Company.  Local brews gained a major foothold in the stands. Those in the know flocked to Section 139’s District Draft cart for fresh pints of Port City, DC Brau, 3 Stars and Mad Fox.

This season, craft beer will be even more bountiful at the park and it’s got the brewers excited.  “This year looks to be so much more than last year,” said Bill Madden, founder of Mad Fox. “All the local brewers had a meeting with the Nationals organization and mapped out the season.”  And come the home opener on Friday, April 4 – you’re going to be happy with the results.
