[UPDATE: Beers must now be submitted by April 19. Updated press release below.] From a press release. Sorry for the short notice, folks. It's probably too late to brew something specifically for this, but maybe you have something in your cellar you can submit? Cheers!
The third annual Sam Adams/DC Homebrewers Competition provides an opportunity for amateur brewers to test their skills against other homebrewers in the area, as well as show their beer off to the public. The final competition, open to the public will be held on April 26 at the Meridian Pint.
Sam Adams has been great friends of DC Homebrewers throughout the years and this year they were able to sponsor awesome prizes for the winners. Including, the best overall beer winner receiving a trip to Washington state to check out the hop harvest in the Yakima Valley! Other prizes include $500 dollars to a local homebrew shop for second place, $250 to the Meridian Pint for third place, and the crowd favorite will receive two tickets to SAVOR!
Brewers can enter their beers into 11 different beer-style categories. Beers will be evaluated on elements such as aroma and flavor as well as relevance to the category and overall drinkability. The top beers chosen by the judges will be served to the public at the Meridian Pint where a crowd favorite will be crowned.
Homebrewers who wish to enter have until April 20 to register online at www.dchbcompetition.com/

The preliminary judging will take place at the Bier Baron on April 22 and finalists will be announced shortly after that date. Please remember all finalists must commit to pour a full case of beer at the final judging event.
