Movember, the annual campaign to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, has returned. New to Movember? Here's the lowdown on the month formerly known as November, straight from the source:
Men grow and women support a Mo (moustache) for 30 days becoming walking, talking billboards. Movember supports world-class men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer.Men who support Movember, called Mo Bros, start by registering at Movember.com. Mo Bros start Movember 1st clean-shaven, then grow and groom their Mo, for the rest of the month, raising money along the way. Women who support Movember, called MO SISTAS, also start by registering at Movember.com. MO SISTAS champion the Mo by registering and supporting the Mo Bros in their life, spreading the important message of men’s health, leading a team and organizing events.
Teams you say? Well, it just so happens that some of your friendly (or at least conscious) DCBeer writers and others from the #DCBrews community are coming together to grow misshapen facial hair and raise money for a good cause.
Be sure to check out our team: #DCBrewstaches. Throughout the month, we're planning on having some get-togethers so you can come and support and/or mock our efforts to grow mustaches. If you've got some extra cash laying around, every little bit helps. Anything from $1 upward can make a difference in our campaign to raise awareness and money for men's health issues.
Interested in participating in Movember? It's not too late! Just join our team and go ahead and get yourself clean-shaven, then keep us apprised of your progress through Twitter using #dcbrews!
Thanks in advance for your support and good luck to all those participating in Movember 2013!
