Between this and Flying Dog's Pearl Necklace and the return of Port City's Revival Stout, the area is awash in tasty oyster stouts. From an email:

Bill Butcher, founder of Port City Brewing Company, located at 3950 Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria, VA, 22304, is pleased to announce the re-release of his limited edition beer, Revival Stout, just in time for oyster season.  Revival Stout is a creative partnership between Port City’s brewing team, headed by Jonathan Reeves, andDave Svec and Brad Blymier of War Shore Oyster Company.  Produced in the British and Irish brewing tradition of oyster stouts, this beer is made by steeping War Shore’s Chesapeake Bay oyster shells in the brewing water to add mineral content, and then adding the oysters and their liquor to the brew during the boil.  The oysters add a subtle briny character, and a smooth textural element to the beer.

Port City will host a release party of their 60-barrel batch in the brewery’s Tasting Room on Friday, October 18th from 5 PM to 9 PM.  A variety of freshly shucked oysters on the half shell courtesy of War Shore Oyster Company will be available.  Patrons can enjoy a pint of Revival Stout along with a half dozen oysters for $17 each.

Patrons can find this limited edition beer at Port City’s Tasting Room, as well as on tap at select oyster houses, restaurants and bars in Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland beginning late October.  Additionally, five percent of the sales of Revival Stout will be donated to the Oyster Recovery Partnership (http://oysterrecovery.org/) to support their efforts to revive the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
