DC Beer Week 2014 returns from August 17-24. Although we have day-by-day line-ups posted, it may also be helpful for the #DCBrews community to check out what some players that are going above and beyond will be offering. Here are the events being sponsored by H Street's Granville Moore's (1238 H Street NE). For more of DCBeer's DCBW coverage, click here.
Sunday, August 17 – 11am-3pm – Barrel-Aged Brunch: To kick off DC Beer Week, Granville Moore's on H Street NE is turning up the heat on their already delicious Sunday brunch on August 17th (11 am – 3pm) with a Barrel-Aged Brunch. The restaurant has teamed up with DC Brau, Catoctin Creek distillery and Caledonia Spirits to craft two special limited-release barrel-aged beers using DC Brau's popular On The Wings of Armageddon. Both barrel-aged beers, as well as the original non-aged Imperial IPA, will be tapped at 11am, and will be available only at Granville Moore's during DC Beer Week as long as supplies last! Reservations are encouraged. DC Brau describes its OTWOA as a single-hop blend beer that carries an intense hop character onto the pallet with dominant aromas of citrus, white grapes and grapefruit with light bread and biscuit notes. Head Brewer Jeff Hancock chose the OTWOA for this aging collaboration to experiment with how the different woods would complement the hops that are so prevalent in the original. One batch was aged in a whiskey barrel from Catoctin Creek Distillery, while the second was stored in a gin barrel from Caledonia Spirits (http://caledoniaspirits.com). Both will be available on draft, along with the original version by DC Brau, at Granville Moore’s during DC Beer Week while supplies last.
