Note the new and updated date for this competition. It is now on Saturday, June 1st, 2013

Attention, area homebrewers: would you like a chance to showcase your beer in front of a crowd? With prizes? Then please pay close attention. The Gateway Community Development Corporation, located just across the District line in North Brentwood, MD, is having a homebrew competition on Saturday,June 1st, from 5-9pm. They're asking that applications to compete be complete by April 24th, which gives you plenty of time to plot your next lager, pale ale (including IPAs), stout or porter, or other style. See the full list of beer categories with more information about registration (note: there is a fee, discounted for current Gateway Community Development Corporation members) here. There are only twenty (20) spots, so the sooner the better.

First place in the competition wins you a $100 prepaid Visa card, a one-year membership to the American Homebrewers Association, and a one-year membership to the Gateway Community Development Corporation.

The winner of the popular vote takes home a $50 Visa card and a one-year membership to the Gateway Community Development Corporation.

If you prefer drinking beer to making it, save the June 1st date, and do check out the Gateway Arts District, which is a very cool place. Note that the event will be held in the ezStorage area, which is not actually storage space.
