Butchers are awesome. They take unmanageable things like sides of beef and transform them into the steaks, briskets, roasts, etc. that we all know and love. In a city where charcuterie, offal, and specialty cuts of meat are becoming more and more popular and prevalent, it’s these knife and cleaver artisans that make the magic happen.
Acknowledging all of this, P Street Whole Foods is hosting the Whole Foods Market Best Butcher Competition on Saturday, July 21 from 6-9pm.
The event is $20, and all proceeds go to a tremendous cause here in our city, DC Central Kitchen. For your entry ticket, you’ll get two drink tickets as well as live music, hors d’oeurves, and chef demonstrations.
Beers will be poured from: DC Brau, Flying Dog, Port City Brewing Company, and Dogfish Head.
So what’s the competition? Well, four butchers (from four different Whole Foods regions) will compete to see who will go on to the final round in New York City in September. With the cuts produced from the butchers, top DC area chefs will be cooking up a variety of dishes while a live band plays.
Oh, and all of this is happening on the P Street Whole Foods’ roof!
Sounds like it should be a great time for a great cause, especially if you’re a big fan of watching people with sharp objects carve out prime cuts of meat. Get your tickets today!
