From the “unexpected but makes sense department” comes an early morning press release from 3 Stars Brewing Company. Founder Dave Coleman and Mike McGarvey revealed plans to incorporate a retail homebrew store within their Takoma Park Brewery.
3 Stars Brewing Company to Open Homebrew Shop in the District
May 18, 2012 – Washington, DC – Local recreational brewers in the District will soon have a place closer to home to purchase fresh ingredients, tools and other supplies for their craft. Dave Coleman and Mike McGarvey, the co-founders of 3 Stars Brewing Company, plan to open the doors to the District’s sole homebrew shop at their Takoma Park brewery in the coming weeks.
“Home brewers not only have a passion for beer, but a genuine care for the ingredients that make up their homespun libation,” explains 3 Stars President Dave Coleman. “As former home brewers ourselves, Mike and I recognized there was a real need for an accessible homebrew shop closer into the city – not only as a retail space to stock up on supplies, but as a gathering place for likeminded enthusiasts to share thoughts and ideas about the craft of beer making.”
The retail shop will be housed within the brewery’s tasting room, offering an assortment of high-quality ingredients, production kits, tools, literature and other supplies necessary to home brewers of every skill level. To start, the 3 Stars Homebrew Shop will be open on Thursdays from 4 to 8 PM, Fridays from 3 to 8 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The founders hope to have the 3 Stars Homebrew Shop open on June 1 [corrected].
