People sleep on the craft beer program at Scion, and that is NOT WISE. Beer director Tim Liu curates a small but mighty beer program in his Dupont spot that includes one of the better happy hours in the District.

Scion is bringing its A game for SAVOR Beer Week with a two-part event called Savor Our Suds on Wednesday, June 6.

The event will bring together 21st Amendment, Boulevard, Elysian, Nebraska, Two Brothers, and Uinta, each of which will bring at least three beers (at least two drafts and one bottle). The main event is a standard tap takeover (this is the Savor Our Suds part). There is no cover charge for this part of the event, and Scion will tap all of the beers at 5pm and pour them on a first-come first-serve basis. Drafts will be available in full pours and 4 oz pours as well. Some of the bottles will be in large formats. In those cases, Scion will pour them in individual sizes (either 10 or 12 oz). The full lineup of beers is still TBD, though a partial list is below.

Sponsorship

The second part of the event is comprised of three private tastings that are being called the Brewer’s Tasting Room. Each private session will feature two different breweries. Each brewery will bring one additional beer from one of their limited series for this private session. These beers will be poured exclusively at the private sessions. Each session will be guided by either the owners of the brewery or one of the brewers. Each brewery representative will take about the history of their brewery, talk about the beer and do a little Q+A. There will only be 20 tickets available for each session. Tickets for the private sessions are $15 each. The tickets provides two 12 oz pours of the special beers and some takeaways from the brewery.

Here’s the tentative beer list for the Brewer’s Reserve sessions:

6:30 – Session 1 (SOLD OUT)
Boulevard / Saison Noir – This beer is a test recipe. It has never been sold outside of the brewery.
21st Amendment / Spring Saison – Brand new one off. First time poured in DC.

7:30 – Session 2 (SOLD OUT)
Nebraska / Menage a Trois – Belgian Golden Ale aged in Chardonnay Barrels
Elysian / Apocolypse Series – This will be one of their new one offs from their brewpubs. The specific beer is TBD.

8:30 – Session 3 (TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE!)
Two Brothers – Pillar of Salt White Rye Ale
