Brewers United for Real Potables is bringing back the Spirit of Free Beer for the 20th year, and it’s going to be, according to one of the co-organizers “huge.”

As the DC Metro area’s largest BJCP-sanctioned competition, Spirit of Free Beer had over 500 entries last year and gave out nearly $4,000 worth of prizes. Entrants receive feedback from experienced BJCP judges, and have the chance to win awesome prizes, which will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category, plus Best of Show. Prizes include things like bags of grain, hops, kettles, mills, gift certificates, t-shirts, glassware, magazine subscriptions, books, a full kegging system, and various brewing supplies & equipment.

So how can you get involved? You can register ; please be sure to read the rules and regulations! Registration is open until May 4.

There are drop-off locations all over the area (myLHBS in VA, Maryland Homebrew & Flying Barrel in MD, and Cairo Wine & Liquors in DC), so submitting entries couldn’t be easier!
