You may remember that last month ChurchKey kicked off the Sour Sessions, a night with a lineup full of deliciously mouthpuckering beverages.
Well, Brett, Lacto, and Pedio fans rejoice because this Monday, March 26 at 6pm, the Sour Sessions return with Volume 2. At least 15 funky drafts and casks will be available. Some of the highlights, according to ChurchKey, include:
DC Brau Barrel-Aged The Citizen (Belgian Strong Blond aged in Catoctin Creek barrels; only 6 kegs of this funky treat were filled) as well as the DC debut of Oxbow Funkhouse Pale Ale on draft and on cask two ways! This is a stronger version of Oxbow Farmhouse Pale Ale spiked with Brettanomyces! We’ll have kegs and 2 casks: one is the straight-up Funkhouse Pale, while the other is Funkhouse dry-hopped in the firkin with Citra & Crystal hops!
And plenty more! Three different brews from Craft Beer Importer B. United’s Zymatore program: Gale’s Prize Old Ale 2001 (English Strong Ale insanely rare to find on draft anywhere!), Di Como Malthus Baluba (Italian Stout brewed w/ apricot, pineapple, rue & ginger) & Troll Palanfrina (Italian Chestnut Ale). Each of these three exotic brews has been aged in the USA by B. United in oak barrels previously used to mature both Pinot Noir and Whiskey made by Ransom Wines & Spirits in Sheridan, Oregon.
Also look out for some fresh Smuttynose Short Batch #2: Brett & I, a pair of delicious Berliner Weisse (from Hopfenstark in Quebec and Sixpoint in New York), and a couple of sour gems from the tiny Belgian brewery of Alvinne: Morpheus Wild Undressed and the DC Debut of Freddy Wild (a blend of Mano Negra Stout and sour ale…the base beer prior to wine barrel-aging of Cuvee Freddy).
Per usual, there is no admission fee for this event and all Sour Session drafts will be priced individually in 4 oz. tasters and full glass pours.
