Put your superstitions aside, if only just this once and rejoice: Great Lakes Brewing Company is making Virginia the 13th state to receive its renowned brews. Beginning on February 27th, Hop & Wine Beverage will begin distribution of the Ohio-based brewery’s wares to the Northern Virginia region both on draft and in bottles.
Expect to see the year-round GLBC lineup, which includes such commercial successes as Edmund Fitzgerald Porter (a personal favorite), Elliot Ness Amber Lager, and Dortmunder Gold Lager. In addition, to promote their beeremigration (see what I did there?), GLBC will be shipping out a 12-bottle “Taster’s Pack” to allow those unfamiliar with their beers to take a crash course in their Ohioan offerings.
As distribution commences, be prepared for a number of events in the NoVA area, including tastings, giveaways, meet-and-greets and more. If I know anything about NoVA beer nerds (and I should because, gasp, I am one!), these events should be well-attended, exciting, and full of individuals sporting impressive facial hair.
Be sure to check out the GLBC DC/NoVA events site for more information as the date approaches. Of course, we’ll post events as we hear about them.
