In 1999 the American Homebrewer’s Association established “Learn to Homebrew Day.” Since then countless people have taken the leap by turning their kitchen, garage, bedroom and bathroom into a home brewery.

For the 13th annual Learn to Homebrew Day there are a few options that will hopefully turn many of the fence-sitters into homebrewers.

Learn To Homebrew Day 2011 is Saturday and MyLHBS needs your help in converting those fence-sitters we all know into homebrewers! At 12:30pm or 1pm, Derek, local homebrew expert and purveyor of fine quality homebrew goods, will be doing a homebrew demonstration!

MyLHBS is putting their Deluxe Brewer’s Best® Equipment Kit on sale for $99.99, which makes popping in on Saturday a fantastic deal. Bring in another brand-new-to-brew buddy and for just $89.99 they get a Deluxe Brewer’s Best® Equipment Kit too. Contents:

They’ll be offering up their extra-fresh ingredient kits, BUT there’s more…if a current homebrewer brings in a new brewer and gets them started, we will offer the existing homebrewer a one-time 10% discount this Saturday as our way of saying “thank you.

Fine Print: Excluded from this sale are reconditioned soda kegs and Blichmann products.

Fine, Fine Print: This is the first year myLHBS has participated in Learn To Homebrew Day and aren’t sure what to expect — one sitting-on-the-fencer, or an entire horde…So, they SWAG’d their best and ordered all the kits, etc., they think they’ll need but coming in early is a good idea. Store hours are 10 AM to 5 PM.

Super Fine Print: Discounts can’t be applied to prior purchases but you’re smart and knew that.

Can’t make it to MyLHBS? You can also check out Meridian Pint’s Learn to Homebrew Day event. This event is also this Saturday, and is at 12pm. Two experienced homebrewers, Brian Barrows and Erich Streckfuss, will be doing an extract batch out on the patio. Derek at MyLHBS is donating the dried malt extract and special grains, while Brandon and Jeff at DCBrau have agreed to donate hops and yeast. The plan is to serve this beer as an exhibition beer at the December homebrew showdown.
