My guess is that you’ve seen some talk about Movember through Facebook, Twitter, or some other medium you can’t help but be faced with through the course of your day to day life.
Well, what is Movember? It’s an awesome campaign each November where men grow moustaches (or mustaches, depending on your spelling preference) in order to raise “vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.”
Flying Dog and Meridian Pint are getting involved with this campaign by throwing a party at the Pint at the end of the month on the 29th (see poster below).
Many folks in the #dcbrews community are getting involved in Movember, including yours truly. A little personal note, I’ve never grown a moustache before, so this is a first for me. I’m participating on Team MOke and Barrel with some other familiar #dcbrews folks. You can click that link to see them and (if you’d like to) donate to our team.
There’s definitely a place for women or Mo Sistas (as opposed to Mo Bros) to get involved in Movember. They can join teams, fundraise, and offer all kinds of other moral support. God knows my girlfriend is going to need to be tolerant when I end up looking like some deranged Ethan-Hawke-in-Training-Day-wannabe at the end of November.
We look forward to showing off our moustaches and drinking some excellent beers with all of you at Meridian Pint on the 29th. If you happen to see some folks sporting moustaches (even clumsy moustaches, like mine will be), be sure to offer your support to them and remember why we’re doing this: to raise awareness, and funds, for men’s health issues. Cheers!
