Last month, we told you to ready your entries for the Neighborhood Farm Initative’s 2nd Annual Homebrew Harvest. Well, I hope you took our advice, because the event has arrived! Join NFI at American Ice Co. on Sunday, October 23 from 3 to 6pm. This fundraiser has a suggested donation of $10.

The fundraiser will feature a friendly competition among local homebrewers. This year, NFI is teaming up with Food Day 2011 to bring you an afternoon of fall festivities, with – much like homebrew – a local focus.

Prize categories include Best Beer, Most Exotic, Best Backstory, Most Sustainable (best use of local ingredients).

NFI notes, “homebrew is the perfect solution to enjoy beer while minimizing your carbon footprint – not to mention a fun way to add a creative twist to your beverage choices.”

The event will begin at 3pm with a Homebrew 101 workshop. The tasting will follow at 4 PM. Be prepared to whet your taste buds because, after the tasting, all participants will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite brews in a number of categories. Winners will be announced at 6pm. After the event, feel free to stick around to mix, mingle, and enjoy a few additional beers.
