As Beernews.org reported yesterday, Utah-based Epic Brewing Company and Washington-based DC Brau Brewing Company are teaming up. The forthcoming beer is currently titled “Fermentation Without Representation.” The style of beer is an Imperial Pumpkin Porter, so while ABV has yet to be determined, we can safely assume it will be over 7%.

The first week of October will see DC Brau brewmaster, Jeff Hancock, head to Salt Lake City. The following week Epic brewmaster, Kevin Crompton, will head to DC. The beer will be released via Epic’s Exponential Series, their “special line of ales and lagers for the accomplished consumer or the ever-curious.” The Exponential Series is released with varying availability but always in small quantity. You can bet this porter will go quickly when it hit shelves, which is reportedly slated for November 3rd.

Good beer fans can look forward to a “porter brewed with pumpkin and spices” which should be tasty well into 2012. If Brau’s Penn Quarter Porter or Epic’s Smoked Porter are any indication, this collaboration will not disappoint.

According to this interview with Jeff, collaborations with Capital City and Stillwater Artisanal Ales are in the pipeline.
