Yesterday, we told you about the beer classes at Bourbon Glover Park. Well, today we’re telling you about another exciting beer education opportunity.
On Thursday, September 15, Taste DC will host Craft Beer 101-A Revolution in American Beer. The class runs from 7pm to 9:15pm at the Embassy Row Hilton (2015 Massachusetts Avenue NW) near Dupont Circle.
This class will be hosted by yours truly! The fee for this event is $60 and will include eight different beers. You can register via this link.
I’ll be hitting a huge variety of beer related topics, so this is great for people just getting into craft beer. Some of the topics I’ll be covering are:
– History of Beer
– Beer Ingredients
– How Beer is Made
– Ales vs. Lagers
– Tasting Beer and Evaluation
– Malty vs. Hoppy
– Beer and Food Pairing
I know the class is a little pricey, so you had better believe I’m going to do my absolute best to make it worth your while. I’ll be giving out some swag, answering all kinds of questions, and just generally trying to make the experience great for people who are getting into craft beer.
Here’s the proposed beer list for the class. It’s filled with prime examples of a number of different beer styles.
Lager – Great Lakes Brewing Company – Dortmunder Gold
Pale Ale – Port City Brewing Company – Essential Pale Ale
Wit – Allagash Brewing Company – Allagash White
Belgian Pale – Brewery Ommegang – BPA
IPA – New Belgium – Ranger IPA
Brown Ale – Sierra Nevada Brewing Company – Tumbler
Porter/Stout – Flying Dog – Gonzo Imperial Porter
Sour/Wild – Jolly Pumpkin – La Roja
So please spread the word and join me on the 15th. Should be a good time! Looking forward to teaching some folks about a whole bunch of beer topics! Cheers!
