Flying Dog, in its mission to support local creative efforts, will be helping Irvine Contemporary, a gallery in Logan Circle, to send itself out with a bang this Saturday, August 27.

Irvine Contemporary has been around for 10 years, including 5 years at the 14th Street space, but will be moving out after Saturday night. From the website:
Irvine Contemporary specializes in contemporary art by early and mid-career artists with growing national and international reputations. We also feature works by a select group of established artists for collectors interested in building collections with art works in every category of interest.

Irvine Contemporary is a full-service gallery focusing on the needs of collectors at any level of experience. We provide art advising and consulting, art appraisals, private resales, and lectures and informational events on contemporary art, art collecting, and the art market.

The Grand Finale and Goodbye Block Party to the Irvine Contemporary will take place at 1412 14th Street NW (14th and P Streets NW) from 6pm until whenever everything dies down. You can party in the gallery and say goodbye to this space then spill into the back alley for a block party with mural work by Shepherd Fairey and countless other street artists, who have been featured at Irvine for years in DC!

Where does the beer come in? Well, there will be four kegs of Doggie Style Pale Ale on-hand with which to have some merriment and send out the gallery on a high and hoppy note. No admission fee and no charge for the beer! Seems like a pretty good deal to come and see some amazing local art.

Sponsorship

There will be DJ and Music Sessions by Will Eastman and Yoko K.

Street artists to be displayed: Shepard Fairey, Gaia, Melissa Ichiuji, Hedieh Javanshir Ilchi, Akemi Maegawa, Sebastian Martorana, Alexa Meade, Susana Raab, Kerry Skarbakka, Oliver Vernon

So if you’re in the area and are looking for something to do on Saturday night, be sure to come out and hoist a pint to the Irvine Contemporary!
