The DC Beer Week Homebrew Competition is taking place this Saturday from 12-4 PM at Red Palace located at 1212 H Street NE.
If you’re saying to yourself, “But I’m not a homebrewer, why would I attend this event?” Well, free beer, that’s why. $10 gets you early access into Red Palace for Nerd Nite, which begins at 6:30 PM. That money also gets you access to taste the DC Homebrewers’ entries. Pouring begins at 12 noon.
Celebrity judges Greg Kitsock, Tom Cizauskas, Orr Shtuhl, and Mat Lebarron will choose a winner while the tasting is open to the public (a winner will be crowned around 3 PM). These judges will pick one lucky DC homebrewer and a group of his or her friends to spend a day with a very well known and well-respected craft brewery. Nerd Nite will feature local beer figures Brandon Skall (CEO, DC Brau Brewing Company) and Greg Engert (Beer Director, Neighborhood Restaurant Group) as well as the group, State Department.
While we may seem near the dregs of #dcbw11, this weekend still has some great events on tap. See you Saturday!
