The Reef will host its third annual Beer & Oyster Festival during DC Beer Week on Thursday, August 18 at 6pm.

This year’s festival, titled “From New York to Louisiana,” will benefit Famine and Wildlife. The event will feature beer from both Abita and Blue Point breweries! Proceeds from the sale of four of the beers the Reef has chosen will go directly to the relief funds for the Gulf Coast, Hurricane Katrina, “Spreading Our Wings” campaign, and underprivileged children in the Caribbean and around the world.

The four beers are:

Abita Restoration Ale
Abita SOS
Blue Point RastafaRye Ale
Blue Point Toxic Sludge

A neat feature of this event is that all oyster shells will also be recycled and returned to the oceans so that these habitats may be restored and maintained for their inhabitants.

Blue Point Toasted Lager and Abita Restoration Ale will be on draft. Blue Point Toxic Sludge and Abita Honey Rye will be available via hand pumps. The Reef will also feature Abita’s Andygator and Save Our Shore and Blue Points RastafaRye Ale and American Pale Ale.

This event will run until the beer is gone or until last call is reached. The kitchen will be offering Blue Point and Salutation Cove oysters from the Prince Edward Islands and Pleasant Bay oysters from Cape Cod Massachusetts. The Reef’s full menu will also be available until 11pm.
