DC Beer Week Daily Preview: Wednesday, August 17!

Hump day is here, but you’ve got a long night of DC Beer Week 2011 events to get through before the rest of the week. We imagine some of you are a little groggy this morning after the bevy of amazing events all around the city last night. Fortunately (or unfortunately), tonight’s lineup is equally excellent. Be sure to check out tonight’s events on our DC Beer Week 2011 events page. Here are some of the highlights of what you’ll find there for this evening!

Midwest Brewery Night at Smith Commons – 5pm – 1245 H Street NE, www.smithcommonsdc.com
Smith Commons will be featuring breweries from a different region of the country for four different nights during DC Beer Week. Wednesday will feature breweries from the midwest. $5 pints, $15 bombers, and $5 regional themed small food pairings. The beer list for Wednesday includes:

Heavy Seas Restaurant Week Menu Pairing at Thunder Burger – 4pm – 3056 M Street NW, www.thunderburger.com
In celebration of the dual Restaurant/Beer Weeks, Thunder Burger and Heavy Seas are teaming up to offer a special menu pairing. Chef Fichter’s $35.11 Restaurant Week Dinner Menu will be paired with selections from Heavy Sea’s fleet of beers, for a $10 up-charge. Beers include Märzen, Davy Jones, Gold Ale, Loose Cannon & Peg Leg. All the beers will also be regularly available that evening, and a brewery representative will be on hand for Giveaways of Glassware, t-shirts and other goodies. The beers will be available starting at 4pm and the event goes all night.

The Art of German Brewing Beer Class with Troegs – 7pm – 1100 Park Avenue NW, www.redrocksdc.com
Discover the subtle characteristics and intricacies of German Brewing and its influences on American Craft Brewers. The Class will be instructed by the Pete Showvaker, official brand ambassador of Troegs Brewing Co.

Pairings will include:
1 – Troegs Dreamweaver / asparagus with buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and olives
2 – Sunshine Pils / prosciutto wrapped shrimp with aioli
3 – Troegenator / meatballs
4 – Flying Mouflan / sausage or cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped dates

Wisdom’s Blind Beer Tasting – 8pm – 1432 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, www.dcwisdom.com

Blue Point Brewing Meet the Brewer Night at Molly Malone’s – 6pm – 718 8th Street NE, www.mollymalonescapitolhillsaloon.com
From 6-8PM meet and greet with Steve Bayconich from Blue Point Brewery of Long Island, NY. On tap will be World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winning Toasted Lager and Fresh Hop Pale Ale. Molly Malone’s will be featuring Half Price Pints of Blue Point for Happy Hour.
