Connecticut Avenue Wines and Spirits has long been one of the best retail locations for craft beer in D.C. Under beer director Al’s watchful eye, careful research, and ability to get out-of-market beers, the store, which is a block from the Dupont Metro north exit, has recently stocked out of market breweries like Ballast Point and Surly. About an hour ago, Al tweeted “New 3Floyds drop! (Dreadnaught, Gumball, Alpha K). Also introducing great beers from New Glarus and Sixpoint Craft Ales.”
The list looks something like this, per an email that was sent out to Connecticut Avenue’s customer listserv:
“This just in:
3 Floyds Dreadnaught ($20.99/22oz), Gumball ($5.99/12oz bottle), Alpha King ($5.99/12oz bottle)
New Glarus Wisconsin Red, Raspberry Tart, Cran-Bic, Moon Man, Dancing Man Wheat
AleSmith Speedway Stout, Horny Devil
Sixpoint Craft Ales Bengali Tiger, Sweet Action, Righteous, The Crisp
Cigar City Humidor IPA, Guava Grove, Tocobaga, White Oak Jai Alai, Cubano Espresso
Cigar City/St Somewhere Vuja De
Stone IRS 2011
Jolly Pumpkin Calabaza de Oro & Blanca, Luciernaga
Cantillon Gueuze 750 & 375ml, Kriek 375
Epic (NZ) Pale Ale
Limited quantities. 3F and N. Glarus picked up at their respective breweries in a climate-controlled van. Prices not for the faint of heart. It is what it is.”
Kudos to Connecticut Ave for scoring this great drop of out of market breweries and for having the guts to say that these beers are going to come at a premium based on how hard they are to procure inside the District.
That sound I’m hearing is the stampede of the #dcbrews community heading for Connecticut Avenue I guess…Enjoy!
