This year’s Summer BrewFest is set to be the best festival yet. The 4th annual installation will feature 57 breweries and provides a great venue to meet and talk shop with many local brewers.
Make sure to pay the hometown heroes a visit under their respective tents. Check out: 16 Mile Brewery, Capital City Brewing Co., Clipper City Brewing Co., DC Brau, Dominion Brewery, Evolution Craft Brewing Co., Flying Dog Brewery, Legend Brewery, Lost Rhino Brewing Co., Mad Fox Brewing Co., Oliver Breweries, Port City Brewing Co., St. George Brewery, Starr Hill Brewery and Vintage 50 Restaurant & Brew Lounge. For a complete list, go here.
What the organizers have created is a great environment to sample some craft and small-batch beers, listen to great music, check out local artists and restaurant fare. DCbeer.com will be there 6/26 and here’s why: with most local beer festivals, brewery staff are nowhere to be seen. With the NOVA Summer BrewFest many brewers and brewery staff will be on hand to talk to you about their ales and lagers. Also common at festivals in the DMV is the practice of pouring a sample and ushering the taster to the next line as quickly as possible. With the hours of the festival going from 11 AM to 9 PM (6/25) and 11AM to 7PM (6/26), there is plenty of time to get a sample and allow access to chew the fat with the brewer. We’ve found asking questions about the beer you hold in your hand is a bit of a lost art at many local festivals.
Event tickets (bus tickets also available) can be purchased here. Advance ticket sales are also available at several stores throughout Northern Virginia: Westover Market (Arlington), Rick’s Wine & Gourmet (Alexandria), Norm’s Beer & Wine (Vienna), Vintage 50 Restaurant & Brew Lounge (Leesburg) and Vintage 51 Restaurant (South Riding). We’ll see you this weekend!
