ChurchKey be among the first Washington DC accounts to feature our area’s newest craft brewery – Lost Rhino Brewing Company – on draft! Starting at 4pm, three different Lost Rhino beers: Rhino Chaser Pilsner, Face Plant IPA, and New River Pale Ale will be on draft. There is no admission fee and all Lost Rhino brews will be priced individually by the glass and in tasting pours.
I had the opportunity to try the Face Plant at Smith Commons on Saturday night. It was very tasty. Hopheads will love Face Plant’s huge grapefruit nose. It was very reminiscent of DC Brau’s Public Pale Ale, but has a bit less bitterness than the Public in the finish.
Lost Rhino is a new craft brewery in Ashburn, VA with deep roots in Loudoun County. Brewers Matt Hagerman and Favio Garcia, formerly of Old Dominion, are back together. The name Lost Rhino represents the strength and attitude of the rhinoceros. The five species of rhino each has its own distinct persona, ranging from laid back to aggressive. Their brews will also span a range of personalities from hoppy Pilsners to rich, malty IPAs. “Rhino chasers” are big wave surfers on a continuous journey to find the next perfect wave. Lost Rhino Brewing Company is on a similar journey to create a continuing line of distinctive, enjoyable, memorable beers.
