Last month we reported to you that Sam Adams and DC101 would be teaming up to run a DC-area homebrew competition. The response from the DC metro area homebrewing community was tremendous, and, about 40 entries later, we’re about to start on the path to decide whose beer will win them an all-expenses paid trip to this year’s Great American Beer Festival.
The winner of this competition will be announced at the Brew-B-Q, which will be held at Old Glory in Georgetown on Saturday, May 7 from 2-4pm. On that date, you’ll be able to sample all of the finalists’ brews and vote on which is your favorite. That vote will go toward the, you guessed it, crowd favorite prize! For the main prizes (which include a trip to GABF, Sam Adams Utopias, and other great prizes), a trio of beer judges will be on-hand sniff and sample each brew.
Of course, you’ll also be able to sample Old Glory’s award-winning barbecue (pro-tip: try the mustard sauce, you’ll thank me later.)
You can listen live to DC101 between May 2 and May 7 to try to win VIP passes and a case of Samuel Adams Barrel Collection.
This should be a great time, and we’re looking forward to finding a winner to this competition and handing out some excellent prizes!
Did you submit a beer for the competition? What did you submit? Why do you think it will win? Feel free to talk it up in the comments!
