Flying Dog’s In de Wildeman Farmhouse IPA Set for Ultra-Exclusive US Release at Churchkey

Frederick Maryland’s Flying Dog Brewery will debut an exclusive beer that it brewed for In de Wildeman, a world-class taproom in Amsterdam, on April 12 at Churchkey. This will not only be the only U.S. release of this beer, a farmhouse IPA brewed with Citra hops, but it will also be the only place in the world that this beer is released outside of the taproom itself.

This beer was brewed to celebrate In de Wildeman’s 25th anniversary. This beer will not be released in bottles in the United States or the rest of the world. The inaugural District Beer Hunt was privileged enough to be able to award a four-pack of 750mL bottles of this beer to the winners of the scavenger hunt which took place last month. Those four bottles represented four of fifteen in existence. We’re talking about a very exclusive beer here.

It’s also an extraordinarily tasty beer, and does a tremendous job of showing off the Citra hop variety, which has a very tropical nose. The finish is nice and dry with a slightly spicy finish lent by the Saison yeast that makes this a farmhouse IPA.

It basically goes without saying that this event will pack Churchkey. However, if you can be patient (and maybe a little lucky) you’ll be rewarded with what is undoubtedly one of the best beers I’ve ever had from Flying Dog and one that, if produced in a full national run, would take shelves by storm.

The madness will kick off at 6pm at Churchkey. Get there early if you can.

UPDATED: On-tap tonight will be: Woody Creek White, Gonzo Imperial Porter, Horn Dog Barleywine, Double Simcoe IPA, a special cask of Gonzo Imperial Porter dry-hopped in the cask with cascade hops and with oak chips in the cask, and, maybe, juuuust maybe, Raging Bitch Belgian IPA.
