Inaugural Whiskey and Beer Tasting at Birch & Barley

Beer and whiskey. Whiskey and beer. Two of our favorite things here at DCBeer. Birch & Barley, apparently knowing this, has set up an event that is right up our alley, and we expect it will be right up many of yours as well. Their Inaugural Whiskey and Beer Tasting will be held on Monday, March 21 at 7pm.

The event description notes, “…beer and whiskey are historically intertwined, not simply on account of their base ingredients but that barrel-aging was once as commonplace for ales and lagers as it is for bourbon, rye or scotch. In fact, many craft brewers are returning to this practice today, even using barrels that once held whiskey.” Sounds like a good premise to us.

The menu looks pretty tasty:

FOUNDERS KENTUCKY BREAKFAST STOUT 2009 (Bottle)
Founders Brewing Company – Michigan

BREWDOG PARADOX SPRINGBANK (Cask)
BrewDog – Scotland

DOMINION MILLENIUM OAK AGED WITH BRETT 2008 (Bottle)
Old Dominion Brewing Company – Delaware

SUPERSTITION SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKEY
The Isle of Jura Distillery – Scotland

WILLETT POT STILL RESERVE BOURBON 94 PROOF
Kentucky Bourbon Distillers – Kentucky

RENDEZVOUS RYE
High West Distillery – Utah

There will also be tasty snacks paired with each of these offerings.

Tickets are $35, exclusive of tax and gratuity, but include the beers, whiskeys, and food pairings. Call up Birch & Barley (202-567-2576) to get tickets.
