Lyons, Colorado based craft brewery Oskar Blues has received a notice to cease and desist from brewpub conglomerate Craftworks Restaurants & Breweries. Craftworks, owner of Gordon Biersch, is citing a trademark infringement over the use of the name “Gordon”. Oskar Blues has the used the name Gordon for their awarding winning Double IPA for over seven years now.

Oskar Blues had named the beer to pay tribute to the late local craft beer pioneer Gordon Knight.  The copyright infringement claim will prevent Oskar Blues from using the name “Gordon” anywhere on the can.

In an attempt to avoid any legal action Oskar Blues will rename their year round offering from Gordon to G’Knight starting next month.  All comments out of the Colorado indicate they are taking this in stride and making the best of the situation.

What do you think? The past few times I remember enjoying a Gordon, I assure you the last thing on my mind was Gordon Biersch.

What do you think ? Lame ? Yeah, same here..
