Meridian Pint, which has quickly established itself as an anchor of the DC craft beer scene in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, is moving into having more of a hand in the beers that it has available for patrons. Meridian Pint’s beer director, Sam Fitz, recently joined Oliver Ales brewmaster Steve Jones to brew a beer, called The Revelator, that will be exclusively available at Meridian Pint.
The beer, which is described, as having “a complex malt profile, being brewed with malted and crystal rye, chocolate and black malts and malted wheat. It was generously bittered with First Gold and Cascade and finished with Kent Goldings and Bramling Cross and the draft version will be dry hopped with Bramling Cross. O.G. was 1.062 and [will] be fermenting it to 6.4% abv.” The plan for the beer is to “present a series of casks each with a different spin (different dry hopping, oak, coffee etc) across a period of about a month.” Well, the first release of the Revelator will be Tuesday, January 18th, at 7pm. If you’re in the area, duck in and try this out. Oliver Ales has put out some really excellent beers recently (Channel Crossing and Bishop’s Breakfast, anyone?) and this one sounds like it will be tasty, too!
While you’re at Meridian Pint on the 18th, be sure to check out the homebrew contest that Meridian Pint will also be hosting. Try some tasty local homebrews and vote for which is your favorite!
Cheers!
