Over the past 48 hours we have seen some stirrings and negativity through various channels in the D.C. craft beer community. This banter and questionable commentary has prompted us to reiterate our reasons for doing what we do here at DCBeer.com.
Our primary focus is promoting the craft beer scene in the Washington D.C. metro area. Readers who are looking for coverage that includes venue bashing, or is heavy on criticism in general, should look elsewhere for it. There are plenty of other venues for that, and you will never find it here.
We’ve always written about things that we like that we are seeing in the D.C. craft beer community. If we don’t have anything nice to say, you can be sure we won’t hit “Publish.” There are so many good things happening in this city. We want to promote them. We’ll continue to do so without tearing anyone down. We will give credit to the industry and community when they succeed, and we will challenge the industry and community to do better when they stumble. You can be sure these challenges will be issued in the spirit of strengthening, not maligning, beer in D.C.
At the end of the day, we write about beer. We live in a great city that is continually growing, gaining notoriety, and upping the ante for craft beer lovers. This isn’t happening by accident. The business owners, bartenders, beer managers, brewers, brewery representatives, distributors, writers, readers, and, most numerous, beer drinkers are what make our craft beer community flourish. Appreciate and support all of them. The writers at DCBeer.com have, do, and always will.
Cheers.
