The weekend is upon us and there are options for the frugal-minded and fest-lover alike. Be sure to check these great events out!
Friday-

They got Hoagies and the always-yummy Sammy Fest. Hungry? They got pretzels and brats. Don’t forget the traditional German garb, the best dressed (Oktoberfest-themed of course!) will receive a $100 bar tab. Be sure to sign up to be included on all the pinchpenny specials.
Fireflies Oktoberfest
If you’re in Del Ray come check out the amazing lineup at Fireflies. Get your fest fix by feasting outside in the biergarten. They’ll be serving up mouth-watering brats and sauerkraut. Wash it all down with a frosty Bluegrass Brewing Company Altbier or a Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest (one of the Munich Oktoberfest’s official six!).

Saturday-
If you can’t make it to Fireflies tonight, check them out tomorrow where they’ll be festing all day from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Fireflies assure us German music will provide the weekend’s soundtrack. Brats and Steins and Oompahs, oh my!
Capitol City Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest
Perhaps the crown jewel of the fests around town is Capitol City Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest. Replete with tons of local offerings, expect lots of seasonal favorites, particularly pumpkin ales and German lagers. This is really a time for Maryland and Virginia micro and craft brewers to shine. The other plus is that several members of the DC Homebrewers Club will be volunteering and serving samples. We can’t make any promises but if last year’s event is any indication there will be lots of “local beer celebrities” in attendance (including GABF medal-decorated brewers). We’ll be there and so should you. Prosit!
