Stone’s EPIC Churchkey Takeover

Hang onto your hats and put your other hand on a pint, DC craft beer fans! DCBeer.com has received word that something big, no, scratch that, huge, is brewing between Churchkey and Stone Brewing Co. Actually, huge may not even cover it. What we’ve heard about is what we have to believe will be the largest Stone tapping, ever. This event’s scope is so vast that Stone’s well-known gargoyles will be taking over the entirety of Churchkey’s very sizeable tap list for an evening that will be truly historic. Put it on your calendars, folks, October 4, will be the night that features forty, that’s 4-0, Stone offerings appear on draft at Churchkey. Tap time is subject to change, but Churchkey opens at 4pm on Mondays; we’ll keep you posted when we have definitive details! From what we’ve heard about the kegs being tapped, beer fans across the Washington area will be lining up en masse to try some of the rarest Stone offerings around. This night will feature tap after tap of beers that would normally each be the focus of an individual event. You can see the list, which is subject to change, below. That Stone has brought all of these beers together to takeover Churchkey almost defies belief. But believe, beer fans, oh yes, believe. When you see the beers on the menu, your desire to sample may make you sprout your own set of gargoyle wings just to fly over to Churchkey and get to them that much quicker.

Also, these may not all be full 1/2 bbl kegs, I imagine some of the rarer offerings will be sixtels (1/6 bbl) Still, we don’t think you’ll be having any trouble finding something you’ll like… Take a deep breath folks; we bear no responsibility for heart palpitations incurred as a result of the below.

UPDATE: Stone Brewing Co. Founder and CEO Greg Koch will be on-hand for the takeover! This event is part of a multi-city tour that will also stop in Baltimore’s as-yet-unopened Alewife. This makes what was already a huge and historic event even huger…and…historic-er…erm yes. Anyway, can’t talk, going to wait outside Churchkey now so I can get my place in line.
