We all know the great festivities surrounding Cinco de Mayo, but what about celebrating Belgian Independence Day – Feestag – and getting into the spirit with some great Belgian brews? Occurring every year on July 21, Feestag commemorates Belgian independence from the Netherlands. Lucky for us, there will be a few events to help DC beer drinkers get in the spirit.
I caught up with Devin Arloski of Latis Imports at D’Vines to learn more about the beers he represents and the fun events his team has planned for Feestag. Devin and Latis are responsible for bringing Palm and Rodenbach to the DC area. Palm is a new arrival to the DC area and is billed as the premier Belgian amber ale. Latis also brings us Rodenbach and Rodenbach Grand Cru, which are classic examples of Flemish sour ales. The new Rodenbach Vintage – an ale aged for three years – will arrive in DC this September.
Be sure to catch Palm and Rodenbach at these events:
July 19, 6-8pm
Churchkey
Palm and Rodenbach on tap and glassware giveaway
July 20, 7-9pm
Brasserie Beck
Half Price Palm night, Rodenbach also on draft, and glassware giveaway
July 21, 11pm
Feestag Afterparty
