We got some news recently about a few new beers coming to our shores soon:
Wolaver’s Pat Leavy All American Ale will be in DC at the end of January. Following their Will Stevens’ Pumpkin Ale, this Pat Leavy beer is Wolaver’s second organic beer to be named after the farmer responsible for a certain part of the beer. Will Stevens provided the organic pumpkin for the last beer and this time Pat Leavy grew the organic Fuggle, Magnum and Goldings hops for this beer. The new brew is an American-style Amber ale made with all organic ingredients from the USA. General consensus over at Beer Advocate has been that this is one of the better organic beers being made right now. Look for it in bottles and a few rare kegs.
Harpoon has two specialty beers coming our way in February. Harpoon Leviathan Series Imperial Red has been described as a robust, malty red ale with lots of American hop character set to be released mid-February. This beer will be a walloping 9.2% ABV and will be spotted on draft and in four packs. Harpoon’s Island Creek Oyster Stout, a heady, dark beer brewed with local oysters. The stout is 5.5% ABV and will come in bombers (probably at P Street Whole Foods) and on draft in limited supply.
